What happens if you don't clean your gutters?
When a gutter fills, water stops going where it was designed to go. It spills over the front edge, or it backs up under the bottom course of shingles.
Either way it ends up on the fascia, into the soffit, and eventually against the framing behind it.
That is rotted fascia, stained soffits, and water running down the wall and pooling at the foundation — repairs that run into the thousands.
None of it announces itself. By the time it is visible from the ground, the damage has been happening for a while.
It is the cheapest maintenance on a house and the damage from skipping it is some of the most expensive. Twice a year keeps it from ever becoming a problem.

The vertical black stripes on the front of a gutter are a separate problem from what's inside it. That's the same organic staining that runs down siding, and it's cleaned as part of a house wash.
If you're having the gutters cleared anyway, doing both at once is the cheaper way to get it done.

Clearing them is half the job. Confirming the water actually moves is the other half.
We clear by hand
Debris comes out and goes into a bag, not onto your lawn or into the beds.
We flush the runs
Water goes down the full length so we can see it moving the way it should.
We clear the downspouts
A blocked downspout backs the whole run up, so each one is checked and cleared.
We check the discharge
We confirm water is leaving the downspout and going away from the foundation, not pooling against it.
We flag what we find
Anything loose, sagging or separating gets pointed out while we are up there — no charge, no upsell.
We clean up
Nothing left in the beds or on the lawn.

How often should gutters be cleaned?
Twice a year is the usual answer. Under heavy tree cover — pines and oaks especially — it's worth doing more often.
Do you clean the outside of the gutters too?
The exterior faces are cleaned as part of a house wash rather than a clear-out. Booking them together is the cheaper way to get both.
What about gutter guards?
We can clear on top of guards and flush what gets through. Some systems need lifting to clean properly — we'll tell you what yours need.
