Accessibility

We want anyone to be able to find out what we do and get in touch, whatever they are using to browse. This page describes the specific steps taken, rather than simply asserting that the site is accessible.

The standard we build to

This site targets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the benchmark most commonly referenced in US accessibility practice.

What that means here

Colour and contrast

Every text and background combination on the site has been measured against the 4.5:1 minimum for body text. One example of that work: our brand red is bright enough on white, but only reaches 4.1:1 on our near- black sections — so small headings on dark backgrounds use a lightened version of the same red that measures 5.5:1. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.

Keyboard access

Everything that can be clicked can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a visible focus indicator. The before-and-after comparison slider can be moved with the arrow keys.

Screen readers

Pages use real headings in a proper hierarchy, form fields have associated labels, and error messages are programmatically linked to the field they describe and announced when they appear. Decorative imagery — background texture, equipment accents — is hidden from screen readers so it does not interrupt reading.

Motion

The site animates as you scroll. If your device is set to Reduce Motion — in iOS, Android, Windows or macOS accessibility settings — those animations are switched off automatically and content simply appears. Nothing on the site flashes, blinks, or moves on a loop.

Text and zoom

Body text is never smaller than 16 pixels, and the layout reflows down to a phone-sized screen without horizontal scrolling, so magnifying the page does not push content off the side.

Touch targets

Buttons and links are sized for a fingertip — at least 44 by 44 pixels — because most people reach this site on a phone.

How this is tested

Pages are checked with automated accessibility tooling (axe, against WCAG 2.1 A and AA rules) as they are built, including the error states of forms, where problems often hide. Automated testing catches perhaps a third of real accessibility issues, so this is a floor and not a guarantee.

Where we know it falls short

We would rather name these than imply the site is perfect:

• Photographs of our work carry brief alternative text. A before-and-after image is difficult to convey fully in a short description, and the wording could be better.
• The comparison slider works by keyboard, but the visual difference it reveals is inherently hard to convey without sight. The surrounding text describes the result in words for that reason.
• Third-party content. Where we add tools we do not control — booking, chat, review widgets — their accessibility is partly in someone else’s hands. We will weigh that when choosing them.

Please tell us, and do not feel you need to explain the technical side — describing what happened is enough. We will fix what we can and find another way to help you in the meantime.
