From the sawmill to the community center
Erwinville grew up northwest of Port Allen in the late 1800s around Thomas Erwin's sawmill. It had its own postmaster by 1895 and a railroad depot of its own — a working community built on timber and farming before it was a place people commuted from. That history is still visible in the lot sizes and the outbuildings.
It has never been an incorporated town, which is why you will not find a city hall here and why a lot of Erwinville addresses are mailed as Port Allen. The parish handles what a city government would elsewhere, and the community center on Rougon Road is where most of that lands.

That is most of what we do out here. Rural lots in this parish usually mean more concrete and more outbuilding siding than a subdivision house, and it is normally cheaper to do it in one visit than to have us back out twice.
Why does the north side of my house go green out here?
Shade and humidity. The north wall gets the least sun, dries the slowest, and grows algae first — and lots with real tree cover, which is most of them here, make it worse. It is organic growth rather than staining, so it washes off.
